Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. More than 400 mountain gorillas, or more than half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world, live in the mist-covered forest, and they are the park’s main draw.
Southwest Uganda is home to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP). A portion of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the park is bordered by the Virunga National Park, the Albertine Rift, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It is only accessible on foot and covers 321 square kilometers (124 square miles) of both lowland and montane forest. BINP has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization
The park boasts a variety of species. It serves as a habitat for 120 different kinds of animals, 348 different bird species, 220 different butterfly species, 27 different frog species, chameleon species, geckos, and several endangered species.
